1. Dataran Lang (Lang Square) Boasting a majestic brown eagle sculpture all geared up for flight, Dataran Lang (Eagle Square) is Langkawi's most outstanding landmark for visitors arriving by ferry. |
2. Balai Senilukis Negeri (State Art Gallery) First used as a High Court, this Roman-influenced building became the State Art Gallery in 1983; it houses antiques, artefacts and art collections including watercolours by AB Ibrahim. |
3. Mahathir's Birth Place This is the home of Malaysia's Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad where the premier was born on December 20, 1925. For historic purposes, the National Archives restored and gazetted the house as a historical building in 1992. |
4. Mount Jerai Gunung Jerai is the highest point in this northern part of the peninsula. There is a little hill resort at the top which can be accessed by a 13km road. The mountain has ideal trekking routes with fascinating waterfalls, plants and birds to be seen. |
5. Sedim River The 15km long Sungai Sedim has fast flowing waters and rapids excellent for white water sports activities. The river is also one of the best heart-stopping water rapids in the world. |
6. Lembah Bujang Archeological Museum Located between Gunung Jerai in the north and Sungai Muda in the South, Lembah Bujang is regarded as Malaysia's richest archaeological area. |
