2. British North Borneo Memorial In downtown Kota Kinabalu, directly across the road from the High Court amidst the flame of the forest trees in the City Park, is the British North Borneo Memorial. |
3. Sipadan Island As one of the world’s best top dive destinations, Sipadan needs no further introduction amongst divers. Any diver who has the opportunity and fortune to dive at this internationally famed wall diving spot at the Celebes Sea will earn the reverence and envy of their not-so-fortunate diver friends. |
4. Mount Kinabalu/Kinabalu Park The park is known for the abundance and diversity of its plant life with over 1,200 species of flora and fauna. It was gazetted to preserve the valuable natural heritage encompassed within the mountains and its natural environment. |
5. Museum of Islamic Civilisation Officially opened to the public on 5 April 2002, it is located off Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman on a 2 ha site. Its five domes, including the main dome at the centre of its roof, depict the five Islamic commandments or pillars. |
6. Selingan Island One and a half hour's by boat and 40 km north of Sandakan in the Sulu Sea, lies Sabah's third Marine Park, one of the most important turtle breeding spots in South East Asia. |
7. Science and Technology Centre and Art Gallery Located next to the State Museum is this modern centre where you can view some of the latest in scientific and technological discoveries. |
8. Tamu Sabah, Kota Belud The Tamu weekly bazaar at Kota Belud, Sabah has a carnival atmosphere. Every Sunday, village horsemen dressed in traditional garb ride in from the countryside to trade their produce |
9. Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary A perfect Proboscis monkeys observation spot for any tourist who wants to have a closer look at these very rare monkeys. |
10. Kota Belud Sunday Market The Kota Belud 'tamu' or Sunday Market brings together the Dusun, Bajau, Irranun, Obian Muslims and Chinese traders to barter or purchase goods. |
